Deleting your account or Organization

Your account is you: your name, your sign-in and your devices. An Organization is what you pay for, with its Projects and everything in them. Deleting one is not deleting the other. Neither can be undone, and there is no waiting period: it happens at once.

Deleting your account

Deleting your account erases you:

• your name, your account email, your sign-in methods and every device you are signed in on
• your place in every Organization you are a Member of
• the Invitations you sent that nobody has accepted yet

What you added to a Project stays with the Project, because it is the Project’s: its Monitors, its Channels, and the email lists that hold your address. Those Organizations may still send alerts to your address. To stop them, use Stop these emails at the foot of any alert.

Your address is free at once. You can sign up with it again, as a new account with nothing in it.

The owner hands over first

When you own an Organization, delete your account only after it has a new owner or is gone. Until then the Delete account button is off, and the card says, for example:

You own Acme. Transfer it to an admin or delete it first.

How to delete it

1. Open Account settings. Under Delete account, press Delete account.
2. Type your account email to confirm.
3. Enter your password. When you sign in only with Google, we email you a code instead, which works for 15 minutes.
4. With two-factor on, also enter a code from your authenticator app.
5. Press Delete account.

You are signed out, and we email your address to say the account was deleted.

Deleting an Organization

Only the owner can delete an Organization. Everything in it goes, right away:

• every Project, with its Monitors, Incidents, Status page and Channels
• your Plan, which stops at once, with no further charge
• every Member’s access, and every pending Invitation

1. Open Organization settings.
2. Under Delete this Organization, press Delete organization.
3. Type the Organization’s name to confirm, and press Delete organization.

Every Monitor stops at once. Your account stays: you can then join another Organization by Invitation, create a new one, or delete your account.
