Credits

Credits pay for alerts sent by SMS and WhatsApp. Every other Channel, and every Webhook, sends without them.

The owner and the admins see the Organization’s credits: open Credits from the sidebar. Only the owner buys them.

Two things spend credits, and nothing else does:

  • An alert sent by SMS or WhatsApp. It is paid for once it is handed over for sending. A message that is not sent costs nothing.
  • The code that proves a phone number, when you add an SMS or WhatsApp Channel. It costs what a message to that number costs. A number your Organization has already proved needs no code, even in another Project. A code is paid for when it is sent, so a code typed wrong is not given back.
A WhatsApp message costs 1 credit, wherever the number is. An SMS costs from 1 credit to 4 credits, by the country of the number.

The Credits screen lists the price in each country under Price per message. When you add an SMS or WhatsApp Channel, the dialog says what each message to that number costs.

Every paid Plan includes credits each month. Free includes none.

They come back on your billing date, and the ones you did not use expire then. When you move to a larger Plan, the difference is added at once. When you move to a smaller paid Plan, monthly credits above the smaller Plan’s are taken away. When you move to Free, the monthly credits left expire.

To buy more, the owner opens Credits, and under Buy credits presses Buy on a pack. You pay on Creem’s checkout page, and the credits arrive as soon as the payment goes through.

Credits you buy never expire. They stay when you change your Plan, and on Free they still pay for texts and WhatsApp messages until they are spent.

Buying a pack needs a paid Plan. While a payment for your Plan has failed, buying waits until it is fixed. A pack’s price can change between purchases, but credits you bought never change.

Available now on the Credits screen is everything you can spend, in two parts:

  • Monthly: what is left of this month’s credits, and the day they come back.
  • Extra: the credits you bought.

A message is always paid from the monthly credits first, and from the extra credits only once the monthly ones are gone.

History lists every credit in and out, newest first, with its time in UTC.

The owner gets two emails about the balance, each with Buy credits:

  • “Acme is running low on credits”, with your Organization’s name, when a message leaves the credits at a quarter of the monthly credits or below, as in the table above. It says how many are left, and when the monthly ones come back.
  • “Acme has no credits left”, when none are left, or when a message cannot be paid for.

With no credits, alerts by SMS and WhatsApp are not sent, and are not sent later either. Every other Channel keeps sending.

Each email is sent once, until your credits rise above its line again: after you buy credits, or when your monthly credits come back.
